Because of the very nature of a Prayer Journal, I don't feel comfortable showing everyone what I've been writing in it, so I'll just tell you whats going on in this FF. I started using my Personal Cuban a few weeks ago as my prayer journal. I try to study my Bible everyday and when I come across a scripture that I feel is pertinent to someone I know and/or love, I put it in my prayer journal, under the corresponding section, for the corresponding loved one. I also have the week on two pages in this FF. I use that for writing in anything that stands out or that I learn that day from reading the scriptures and other devotionals. A verse, or a quote or thought that I want to remember. Something that means something special to me that day. I love using this FF for this topic. When I pray, I just go through the sections and then I'm done. It helps me to remember people, things and the like that I ordinarily might've forgotten to pray for. I feel that using this FF this way has brought my prayer life up a notch and I feel at peace knowing that my loved ones are "covered"!
The ball point pen is from Vera Bradley.com and I just used ruled paper in all my sections. My son serves in our military so I included the "Soldier's Prayer" in the front.
Thank you for sharing. I think this is a great way to use our extra Filofax binders :)
ReplyDeleteOh You're so welcome. That's what it's all about, right!? I'm a multi-use Filofax kind of girl!
DeleteOh I LOVE this! I'm going to try that out - why didn't I think of this before?
ReplyDeleteHow is the personal size for you for this purpose? Do you think a5 would be better and would you consider merging it with your sermon notes filo?
I'm using this Filofax because it was, well, sort of "left over". I didn't have a use for it, so this is what happened to it. I just keep it on my end table where I keep my "quiet time" items. I think an A5 would be great too, more room to write. The only thing that bugs me with this Cuban Filofax is that it doesn't lie flat, I'm hoping that with use it will someday do that. I just bought an A5 Holborn Zip for my sermon notes and, I'm so excited, I found a slimline matching bible that will fit inside. I'll show it all once I get it all set up. Thanks for you comment!
DeleteWow Mary!! I'd forgotten how beautiful Psalm 91 is. Thank you for reminding me.I was amazed at the story that this psalm was so protective towards the soldiers in the American batallion mentioned. How wonderful that is!! I feel selfish asking, but I could really do with some prayers right now and wonder if you would be kind enough to add me to your prayer list/prayer circle. I am praying and do read the bible, just as with everyone from time to time, I am experiencing life's problems, particularly related to unemployment. I do believe in the power and strength of prayer and have always had a faith.Thank you. xx
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful prayer isn't it? It gives me comfort when praying for my boy. Consider yourself covered. Just "keep your eyes on things above" and everything else will take care of itself. I read a verse once that meant alot to me at the time, perhaps you'll like it too. Here it is: Psalm 119:165 says "Those who love Your law(word)have great peace, And nothing causes them to stumble." Don't ya just love to "have great peace" I know I do. Hang in there!
DeleteThe peace and love of God is wonderful for those who are IN Christ. Marry Ps 119:165 with Matthew 11:6 (in the inspired and preserved word of God, KJV). God only hears prayers of the righteous, and we are ONLY made righteous through the blood of Christ. Thanks for sharing your post. Barry
DeleteThis is just...beautiful! I'm going to totally do this on Monday after our hometown parade for Labor Day and I have just the spare filo that I am not using at the moment...my beloved purple finchley which matches my purple Bible! (Although on the one hand the A5 might work best if I also want to use it for Bible study notes this fall; however, I like the handiness of the personal size on the table beside me as you said!) Thank you for such lovely inspiration. And Butaben...I'm right there with you. Had a job I loved for 17 years then laid off. Had another great job for the next 3 years and laid off. So currently facing employment, health and the 'aging' issue. Just turned 57 and worried about getting gainful employment. Isn't that awful to have to worry about it at this age? But too young for social security, still need income but at that age where discrimination is rampant! So glad we have this great Filofax community to support each other!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment Cheryl! I'm glad I inspired you to do the same. I'm loving mine! I'll add you to my prayer list as well. May God bless you both with perfect employment situations. I know it's been really tough out there. Hang in there and trust Him!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Mary and Cheryl! I will be sending out prayers for you too Cheryl. Your situation sounds so so similar to mine...me at 49, being close to that magic 50! Too young to retire, but bags of experience under our belts too. I too loved my job with a passion, and was in the same place for 9 years. Mary, I love the fact you are using your Filofax for reflective time and prayer. Thank you for sharing snippets of your life in your blog with us, especially the psalm as a prayer for your son.
